New Maruti Dzire: The streets of India will soon see an old nameplate but with increased sophistication as Maruti Suzuki gets ready to launch an all new Dzire for 2025.
Ditching its Swift-oriented traits, the new Dzire finally carves out an identity of its own with a richer design and feature set that challenges cars in a higher class.
The upgrade is a key departure in the Maruti quest in compact sedan segment that seeks to give customers a premium experience without the premium cost.
New Maruti Dzire Bold New Design Language
One look at the 2025 Dzire and the transformation becomes clear, no doubt. Up front, there’s a broader, more commanding grille with horizontal strips of chrome that are reminiscent of expensive as opposed to aggressive cars in this class.
These are flanked by the LED projector headlamps with the piercing signature Daytime Running Lights which ensure that even in your rear view mirror the Kona is flashing you a familiar face.
The profile is still neat, if a bit more sculptural, with clear character lines that give the car visual appeal without appearing too cluttered. The 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are all-new and the one on the higher variants with its nice angular design looks fantastic when light hits it while you are driving. These bigger wheels occupy the arches better and make the Dzire look more stable on the road.
In the back the most notable difference are a pair of Y-shaped LED tail lamps linked by a tasteful strip of chrome. This feature spreads its appearance width-wise while giving it a high-quality look. The discreet boot lip spoiler and shark fin antenna also add to the car’s luxury vibes.
In seven appealing colours, the Dzire no longer appears to be a hatchback with a boot attached; instead, it seems to be a sedan which has been designed with purpose and intent of its own.
Premium Cabin Experience
Hop in and the metamorphosis continues with a cabin that, from the minute you open the door, genuinely wows you. The dual-tone dash has a combination of beige and black with wood finish garnishes which add to the interior look and feel.
That upholstery is in textured cloth on base-versions or leatherette in higher-trim cars, with the seats also providing better bolstering and support.
The big show in the dash is a spectacular 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display that hovers over the center console. This responsive touchscreen has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which most cars on the market still require a cord for. It’s built with Arkamys audio tuning, so the six-speaker setup delivers unexpectedly full sound.
Amongst the interior features, the electric sunroof (a segment first and a rare feature in this part of the market) is perhaps the most discussed.
Whether or not its practical use is a point claimed by some, there’s no denying the upmarket feel that it injects into the cabin, or the welcome natural light that floods the interior.
Air-conditioning is standard across the trims, barring the entry-level one, and automatic climate control and rear AC vents keep the passengers comfortable.
It’s fitted with switchgear on the steering wheel for audio and phone features, and, in conjunction with cruise control, the highway miles become more bearable. A built-in wireless charging pad hidden in the middle armrest lets you keep your smartphone charged without dealing with wires.
Integration of high technology
The tech on the new Dzire does not just stop at the stunning infotainment. There’s also Suzuki Connect telematics for owners to check vehicle status and location, as well as vehicle security functions, via a smartphone app. This link between the car allows some remote features such as door locks/unlocks and vehicle finder.
A 360-degree camera system is also available and that’s yet another first for this segment, helping to provide an all-around view of the vehicle while parking. With this technology, there are no blind spots so the likelihood of a minor collision is minimized in small spaces.
Voice command provides a hands-free way to control a number of systems and automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers require no driver action.
USB Type-C ports (2)This model of Clarus features USB Type-C ports to be compatible with the most current devices and Bluetooth to connect with 2 phones at once.
Uncompromising Safety
Safety is perhaps the biggest contributor to the 2025 Dzire. The vehicle is proud to hold a prestigious 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating – establishing it among the safest in the segment and an ideal option for those who value safety.
All models are also now equipped with six airbags, a big step up from the previous generation. These comprise of double front airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags for an all around safety.
Electronic Stability Program (ESP ) is also included which helps keep the car headed in the right direction during extreme steering maneuvers and Hill Hold Assist that prevents the car from rolling backward when starting on an incline.
Other safety specs include ISOFIX child seat anchors, ABS with EBD, and Tacoma’s tire pressure monitoring system to inform drivers when tires need more air.
Sleek Performance That’s Effortless to Run
The under the hood, the 2025 Dzire is powered by an all-new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine with 82 hres and 112 Nm of torque. Though purists may lament the previous four’s additional refinement, this engine provides strong performance with good fuel economy — an important fact for most buyers in this segment.
The NVS has both manual and there is an all-new automated manual transmission (AMT) which promises to shift gears more seamlessly than in the past.
The CNG version remains on sale for orienting customers towards running costs, boasting a good claimed efficiency of 33.73 km/kg, but with a diminished power of 70 horses.
The thin steel platforms (HEARTECT) of the Dzire have helped in making it more fun to drive and frugal. The car has the improved high-speed stability of IMAHEV combined with the agility that is so appreciated by city-based drivers.
New Maruti Dzire Practical Yet Premium
For all its upmarket aspirations, the Dzire is still a practical package. The small and compact dimensions (3995 mm length, 1735 mm width, and 1525 mm height) of this car make it easy to drive through crowded city roads and still boasts of having ample legroom owing to the 2450 mm wheelbase.
Luggage capacity stands at exactly 382 liters – that should suit the requirements of a family– and the cabin can seat five adults in comfort. There are thoughtful storage nooks and crannies throughout, with 1-liter beverage holders in each door.
With a price range that spans from ₹6.84 lakh to ₹10.19 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2025 Dzire offers great value considering the premium offerings and build quality.
And placing it where it does, it’s well-positioned to take on competition like the Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura, with a more premium package overall.
This complete overhaul sees Maruti Suzuki take the Dzire from merely sensible but slightly dowdy to a genuinely attractive compact sedan. The new Dzire sets a new milestone in the compact sedan segment that estabished MarutiSuzuki as leader in the segment in terms of design, technology, comfort, safety and focus on economy and excellent driving experience that has made it the market leader among compact sedans in the country.
